How to Use the Centro Home Tab in Microsoft Teams

This article explains each section of the Centro Home tab inside Microsoft Teams and how to configure it. Screenshots are pulled from your training video for clarity.

Overview of the Home Tab

The Home tab groups org‑wide configuration under Organizational Admin Settings and per‑user configuration under User Settings. Start here when connecting your Microsoft tenant and Salesforce org.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams → Apps → Centro.
  2. Select the Home tab to view Admin and User sections.

Organizational Admin Settings

Use these settings to connect your Microsoft tenant to one or more Salesforce orgs and enable core features like Forms, Workflows, and File uploads.

Connect Automation User

Creates the secure, general connection between your Microsoft tenant and your primary Salesforce org.

  1. In Organizational Admin Settings, choose Connect Automation User.
  2. Authenticate to the Salesforce org used for automation (recommended: an Integration User).
  3. Verify connection status shows Connected.

The automation user performs server-side actions even when individual users do not have Salesforce licenses.

Additional Salesforce Connections (Sandboxes / Extra Orgs)

Add sandboxes or extra production orgs your business uses.

  1. Click Add Salesforce Connection.
  2. Select the target org (e.g., Sandbox) and complete OAuth.
  3. Name the connection so users can identify it in workflows.

Centro Forms (Create/Update Records)

Build reusable forms that users can launch from Teams to create or update Salesforce records. Forms are stored centrally and can be used across workflows.

  1. Go to Centro Forms and select New.
  2. Choose the Salesforce object (e.g., Case, Opportunity).
  3. Add fields, set defaults/visibility, and save the form.

Workflow Setup (Triggers)

Configure trigger points that link to a Form or send a Platform Event to Salesforce.

  1. Open Workflow Setup.
  2. Choose a trigger: Create message shortcutLink activity shortcut, or Reply to record blocks.
  3. Associate a Centro Form or a Platform Event, then save.

Create Message Shortcut → Platform Event or Form

Adds a message shortcut to open a Centro Form or send a Platform Event (for actions like creating a Case).

  1. Select Create message shortcut.
  2. Choose Use Centro Form or Send Platform Event.
  3. Map fields as needed and save.

Reply to Salesforce Record Blocks (Message Replies → Events)

Sends a Platform Event whenever someone replies below a Centro record block, letting you capture replies as Case Comments, Chatter posts, etc.

  1. Enable Reply to Salesforce record blocks.
  2. Choose the target Platform Event / capture mapping (e.g., Case Comment).
  3. Save.

File Setup (Detect Threads and Upload to Salesforce)

Centro detects when a chat or thread is tied to a record block and prompts file uploads directly to the related Salesforce record.

  1. Open File Setup.
  2. Enable upload prompts for threads with record blocks.
  3. Choose to perform uploads with the Automation User for users without Salesforce licenses.

Admin Users (Grant Org Settings Visibility)

Allow designated users to see Organizational Admin Settings even if they didn’t install the app.

  1. Add users/groups who should manage org-level configuration.
  2. Save changes and confirm access.

User Settings: My Salesforce Setup (User Auth)

Each user can authenticate their own Salesforce account. Actions will respect their Salesforce permissions.

  1. In User Settings, select My Salesforce setup.
  2. Authenticate to Salesforce and confirm status.

Authorize Uploading Meeting Transcripts

Turn on permission to upload Teams meeting transcripts to Salesforce as Files.

  1. In User Settings, enable transcript upload authorization.
  2. Confirm consent in Microsoft 365 if prompted.

Upload Transcripts to Salesforce Files + Summaries

When enabled, Centro can save transcripts to Salesforce Files and optionally generate summaries or share to channels/users.

  1. After meetings, open Centro in Teams and select the transcript.
  2. Choose Save to Salesforce Files.
  3. Optionally: associate to a record, summarize with Centro AI, or share.

Link Activity Shortcut (Log Activity)

A message shortcut to log an activity instead of creating a case.

  1. Select Link activity shortcut.
  2. Configure the activity fields or event payload.
  3. Save and test from a channel message.
