How to Connect Salesforce in the Microsoft Teams Centro App
Overview
This guide explains how to connect your Centro user in Microsoft Teams to your Salesforce organization. Centro offers two connection options:
Salesforce Automation User – Used to automate processes without requiring individual Salesforce licenses.
My Salesforce Connection – Allows each user to authenticate individually and use their Salesforce permissions.
Step 1: Accessing the Connection Options
Open Microsoft Teams.
Navigate to the Centro App.
Click on the Home tab.
You will see two options for connecting to Salesforce:
Salesforce Automation User
My Salesforce Connection
Step 2: Connecting Salesforce Automation User
The Salesforce Automation User allows Microsoft Teams to connect to Salesforce using a shared automation account.
When to Use This Option
If you want to use forms without requiring each user to have a Salesforce license.
If automation should run under a single user’s permissions.
How to Connect
Click Connect to Production or Connect to Sandbox.
Authenticate with the appropriate Salesforce credentials.
Once connected, this user will act as the automation user for the organization.
Step 3: Connecting via My Salesforce Connection
The My Salesforce Connection option enables each user to authenticate individually, allowing them to access Salesforce with their personal permissions.
When to Use This Option
If you want each user to have their own Salesforce permissions in Teams.
If users need to update and create records as themselves rather than as an automation user.
How to Connect
Click Connect to Production or Connect to Sandbox.
Authenticate using your Salesforce credentials.
Once connected, any actions you take in Teams (e.g., creating or updating records) will reflect your Salesforce permissions.
Step 4: Using Connection Options in Form Builder
When setting up forms in Form Builder, you have two authentication choices:
Connect as Default Automation User – The form actions run under the automation user’s permissions.
Connect as User – The form actions use each user’s individual Salesforce permissions.
Key Differences
Option | Requires Salesforce License? | Uses Individual Permissions? |
---|---|---|
Salesforce Automation User | No | No |
My Salesforce Connection | Yes | Yes |
Conclusion
Connecting your Centro user to Salesforce in Microsoft Teams allows seamless integration with your Salesforce org. Choose the appropriate connection method based on whether you want a shared automation user or individual user authentication.
